Colon Station III

Colon Station III

Third Passenger station in Colon: After the Remon – Eisenhower treaty became effective, the passenger station building in Front Avenue and 8th street was evicted and a new terminal station was set within the limits of the Panama Canal Zone in Cristobal. The new station was a frame structure with open platforms to the trains with a small building in the center for tickets. There was no class distinction in this station, and it had a resemblance to the structure located in Ancon in the Pacific terminal.

The location, in Front Avenue and between 11th and 13th street, offered the travelers easy access to the big stores located in Front Avenue and the bus terminal of the city. This station was operational between 1958 to 1996 when railroad ceased operations.
