Pedro Miguel Station

Pedro Miguel Station

Pedro Miguel station: the town of Pedro Miguel was established between 1906 and 1907 where it was decided that the second set of locks of the future Panama Canal will be built. The passenger station was built in 1907 as part of the relocation of the Panama railroad line to make space for the Canal. This station served the locks workers and the residents of the two near Silver Roll towns: Pedro Miguel and Paraiso. Through the time, the station was little modified because the number of passengers using the station did not significantly change for decades.

The station was located just north to the vehicular level crossing making traffic jams when the train was at the station. After the closure of the railroad, the station was used by street vendors and craft makers, but the building was torn down in the year 2000.
