Tank Cars
The tanker railcars numbered 2504 and 2506 were manufactured in 1929 by the industrial division of the Panama Canal Company for the Panama Railroad. Although their total capacity is unknown, it is known that these railcars were used to transport kerosene, a commonly used fuel at the time. These tanks transported fuel from Cristóbal, where a fuel processing facility existed, to the various commissaries in the Canal Zone, as well as to workshops and divisions that operated machinery using this fuel.
Currently, one of the tanks is preserved at the entrance of the administrative offices of the Panama Canal Railway Company in Corozal (2506), while another is located at the entrance of the Pacific passenger terminal in the former Corozal commissary depot (2506).
